Pain Relief is the main reason people come to see us.

The treatments we offer are done with the express intention of helping you find pain relief.

We continually measure whether you are getting better by looking for:

  • reduction in pain severity, how long it lasts or how often it happens
  • improvement in range of movement
  • return to your normal activity

The chiropractic treatment is very gentle.

Once we’ve diagnosed which area is not working properly by checking

  • structure of spine and pelvis – does it look right?
  • movement of joints – is it moving like we expect it to?
  • strength of major muscles in hips and shoulders eg gluteus, trapezius – we compare Left to Right and judge whether a weakness exists.

We then use an impulse technique which aims to restore function to the dysfunctional area.

For more detail – see below

Within his Chiropractic Mike uses 2 different treatments…

First and foremost is the

Neuro-Impulse Protocol (NIP).

               http://www.neuroimpulse.net/

“I check for changes of joint position, joint movement and muscle strength coming through that joint to accurately pin-point where the dominant and primary problems are coming from.”

Having done this diagnosis the Neuro Impulse treatment can then be very gentle and NO high force manipulation is required to achieve its effects.

Because it’s gentle, it means that it’s a great treatment for young and old alike.

But it also means I can take a recreational or top level athlete and find specific functional weaknesses in their shoulder, hips, low back or neck and look to correct these with gentle impulse work and follow up with strengthening exercises if required.

Specific muscle work may also be required and for this I use:

Neuromuscular Reeducationsm

This is an incredibly powerful chiropractic massage technique for freeing up tight muscles and returning joints to their full range of movement.

Mechanical Lower Back and Hip Pain Treatment.

The most common problem that I treat is lower back pain…

Your lower back may cause you pain or restriction for a variety of reasons –  including accidents, slips and falls, long term incorrect posture or manual handling techniques.

Problems in the lower back and hips that I can help with generally originate from:

  • The Sacro-Iliac Joint between the sacrum and ilium bones
  • The lower lumbar spine (L4 and L5 primarily)
  • Muscle imbalances in the hips eg, Glutes, piriformis, hamstrings, etc.
  • Less often, problems from the diaphragm, rib cage, core (iliacus and psoas muscle) and anterior pelvis.

Our initial assessment and diagnosis will show us where to begin your treatment

Neck Pain and Restriction

Again a very common problem seen today because of the amount of computer and smart phone work, the amount of driving and general postural problems related to working at desks.

The neck problems that I can help with fall into 2 categories

  • Structural (joint/bone) problems with any of the joints from the base of the skull down to the base of the neck from vertebra C1 to C7. For these I use NIP (link to above)
  • Neck muscle problems – for this I will use the chiropractic massage technique NMR (link)

Conditions we treat:

  • mechanical neck pain
  • We treat neck stiffness and soreness
  • Chiropractic can help with neck pain caused by poor posture or awkward sitting positions
  • See a chiropractor if you have neck pain caused by tension in the neck or shoulders

Shoulder Problems

The most complicated joint in the human body, 26 individual large muscles, only 3 bones.

Because the shoulder is mostly muscle, we use the deep-tissue massage techniques in Neuro-Muscular Re-Education to help restore shoulder function, increase range of movement and decrease pain.

Headache Problems

Since 2011 Mike has been involved with http://headacheclinics.co.uk/

(HCUK) a specialist organisation set up to help people get access to diagnosis and treatment for their headaches and migraines.

“The specialist training I have received via HCUK has been amazing at helping me understand and help many more people suffering from headache related problems.”

Layering of Problems – why we usually need 3-4 treatments to get a stable consistent benefit.

For a specific pain or restriction scenario we often identify more than one overlapping structural or strength problem.

The body is good at dealing with one weakness or imbalance and does so by compensating and using something else.

This is all ok in the short term, but if not addressed it can then lead to an additional problem and this is then where you start to feel symptoms

This is where NIP comes into its own for separating out what looks initially like an impossibly complicated problem.

We are able to logically go through each area pick up individual problems, treat them and watch the symptoms resolve.
